Larry Leefers

 Larry Leefers is an Associate Professor of Forest Resource Economics and Policy in the Department of Forestry at Michigan State University. Dr. Leefers has more than 25 years experience on problems of forest economics and management, with a focus on international policy. He has worked in several countries including Indonesia, Zambia and the Philippines on issues related to land tenure policy, economic investment policy, and financial transactions analysis. In recent years Dr. Leefers has been active in research on policy, including REDD and climate mitigation policy, as well as the economics of wood-based biofuels development. He is one of several core faculty members in the Department of Forestry’s Carbon Management Certification Program, teaching the core course on Carbon Finance, Economics and Policy. He has been a consultant to the Indonesian government on REDD policy as well as a consultant to the US Forest Service International Programs.
